At 11:30 the participants set out from the Reception Point at the Debabarrena MTB Centre in Mintxeta. Accompanied by the Euskaltel-Euskadi, Orbea and Naturgas cycling teams, with Olympic champion Samuel Sánchez at the head, they covered the Mintxeta route 1, a simple itinerary for families and young cyclists. The weather was bad throughout the entire event, although the rain eased off while participants were riding the 7 kilometres involved, enabling the event to be relaxed, pleasant and incident-free.
Once the participants had finished the route, they were received in the pelota court of the local ikastola (Basque school), where all the mountain bikers were given a BTT Euskadi centres T-shirt and were able to get their strength back with a large variety of soft drinks and refreshments provided by the organisation.
When they were in the pelota court, Samuel Sánchez and his team-mate Aitor Galdós took advantage of their presence to sign autographs for all present, with a long queue of children and adults waiting for the champion to sign their T-shirts, helmets, etc.
To finish off the event, the organisers held a draw for several sets of Euskaltel-Euskadi team kits, caps and T-shirts, as well as CDR team jerseys, which most of those present took part in. The entire day was a huge success.
